- Wash your face with salicylic acid. Cleansers that contain this ingredient work by penetrating into your pores and remove fats that clog the pores and lead to blackheads.
- Use a retinoid at night. Retinoid products decrease oil production in your skin. This helps reduce the amount of blackheads produced and may lower sebum production.

- Don’t moisturize. This is probably a better idea than searching for the perfect oil-free moisturizer. Instead, you could use a gel or serum with anti-aging ingredients.
- Don’t rely on SPF powders. Because sunscreen is formulated with oils that will make you feel and look greasy, people who already deal with likes of oily skin find SPF powders to be more tempting to use. However, they do not carry enough SPF in them. You need at least 15 times the amount of powder you would normally use, to get the right amount of SPF.
- Don’t overwash. Dealing with oily skin isn’t a hygiene problem and extra cleansing isn’t the answer. This will strip you face of the essential oils that serve as a barrier to a lot of irritants. Your skin will become red and raw. It’s best to wash your face twice a day and use blotting papers in between those times!
